Philippine Star reports: “Romblon – Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia yesterday congratulated the new stars of the just-ended Batang Pinoy Visayas leg which featured athletes from three regions.”
Among the sports showcased in the said leg included boxing, athletics, swimming and chess.

Philippine Sports Remain a Pauper When It Comes to Funding

An in depth study on the budget of the country for sports. GMA News Online writer Marisse Panaligan interviews Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richie Garcia:
Garcia said that if the government only increase the budget allocated for sports development, Filipino athletes will be able to fare better in international competitions. “Iba eh. We only have a budget of about P800 million. Singapore has about eight billion pesos,” he told GMA News Online in an interview.
