Last March, the Mindanao State University-General Santos conducted a series of sports-related events that focused on strengthening their female workers, partners and stakeholders, as part of their observance of Women’s Month. Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) founder Geraldine Bernardo was invited to be a guest and Resource Speaker to impart her passion and wisdom toward empowering women in sport.
As part of the institution’s month-long celebration was the Sports Forum, led by Sammielyn Semino, the MSU faculty in the Physical Education Department, and an alumnus of the Exchange Scholar/Visitor in Sports under the Sports Unified Program at the University of Tennessee last April 2013.
The event highlighted the need to provide more opportunities to women, to learn and re-learn the basics of healthy lifestyle, and at the same time, boost their confidence by knowing their inner potentials and unique capacities through health and sports engagements.
