
CALL FOR ABSTRACT
Be part of the 20th Quadrennial World Congress of the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT FOR GIRLS AND WOMEN (IAPESGW) with the theme, Equity in Action: A Global Dialogue on the Advancement of Women and Girls in Physical Education and Sport Innovation. KNOW MORE HERE.

I. THEMATIC AREAS
Authors may choose between oral presentation or poster submission in one of the following areas in the context of gender, girls and women. Submissions without a direct link to our core topic will not be considered. We welcome topics from different scientific fields such as gender studies, sport pedagogy, sport sociology, sport management, sport physiology and medicine, sport nutrition, sport technology etc.

- Active cities
- Health through physical activity, physical education, sport and dance
- High performance sport
- Inclusion in physical education and sport
- Leadership and good governance in sports
- Paralympic sports and Parasport
- Physical activity throughout lifespan
- Physical education at school
- Sport-for-all
- Sport for development and peace
- Technologies and innovation
- Traditional sport, dance, leisure
II. GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The submitting person is considered as the principal author of the abstract and also the presenter. Do NOT submit an abstract on someone’s behalf.
The abstracts will be accepted in English only. Please ensure that the abstract does not contain spelling, grammar or scientific notation errors to avoid such errors being reproduced in the Congress publications.
Title of Presentation: Please choose a brief title (max. of 100 characters) that clearly indicates the content of the contribution. Avoid abbreviations in the title. Abbreviations may be used in the text if they are defined when first used.
Principal Author: Indicate your name and institution or affiliation. In instances of multiple authorship, the person whose name is listed first is the principal author and expected to deliver the presentation.
Co-authors: Please indicate their names, their or affiliation (if different from Principal Author’s).
Abstract: Please ensure that your abstract contains no more than 300 words. Please avoid diagrams, illustrations, tables, references or graphics in the abstract.
- Two types of abstracts are accepted: empirical study and literature review (e.g., systematic review, scoping review, or meta-analysis).
- If the study is empirical, the following structure is obligatory: introduction, objective, methods, results, conclusions. Sample abstract template for empirical studies
- If the study is a literature review, the following structure is obligatory: purpose/objectives, nature and scope, methodology, results, conclusion, implications to theory and practice. Sample abstract template for literature review
- A maximum of 5 references will be allowed for both types of studies. Use Times New Roman font (size 12, spacing 1.5) for the text.
- Keywords: Please indicate 3 – 5 keywords
III. TYPES OF CONTRIBUTIONS:
A. SYMPOSIA
A symposium is a format for delivering a series of spoken presentations focusing on a common topic.
- Each symposium must be organized and submitted by a designated person, referred to as the Symposium Chair.
- The Symposium Chair may serve in one of the following roles or role combinations:
(1) Chair only;
(2) Chair and Presenter;
(3) Chair and Discussant. - Each symposium must include a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 presenters, including the Chair/discussant.
- Submissions for symposia must include an abstract for each presenter. Each symposium will be allocated 90 minutes.
- During the submission process, Symposium Chairs can choose between INVITED SYMPOSIA (only for those formally invited by the organizers/Presidents of Divisions to serve as Chair of an Invited Symposium) and REGULAR SYMPOSIA (for those spontaneously submitting a symposium proposal as Chair)
GUIDELINES for the Symposia Abstract Structure
- Title of Symposium: Please choose a brief title (maximum 20 words) that clearly conveys the content of the contribution. Please avoid abbreviations in the title. Abbreviations may be used in the abstract text if defined upon first use.
- Symposium Chair and Presenters (including co-authors, Affiliations):Provide author; do not include these in the abstract body to allow for anonymized review. The authors’ order and details will be published as submitted.
- Thematic Area:Indicate the specific thematic area for the presentation.
- Abstract: Each symposium submission must include a general abstract that clearly conveys the content of the symposium, a short description of the symposium topic, a statement explaining why the topic is novel, relevant, or appropriate for the Congress, and a clear outline of how each presenter contributes a unique approach or perspective to the topic.
The Symposium Chair is responsible for submitting the complete abstract, including individual abstracts for each presenter, following the guidelines of individual oral presentations.
B. INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS
During submission, participants can choose between Oral and Poster
Oral Presentations: Submitted papers will be organized into thematic sessions, and a chairperson will be assigned. Each presentation will be allotted 15 minutes, including time for discussion.
Poster Presentations
Designated poster sessions at the Congress venue will allow presenters to engage with interested participants and discuss their work.
GUIDELINES for the Individual Abstract Structure (Oral Presentation and Poster)
1. Title of presentation: Choose a brief title (maximum 20 words) that clearly conveys the content of the contribution. Please avoid abbreviations in the title. Abbreviations may be used in the abstract text if defined upon first use.
2. Presenter, Co-authors, Affiliations: Provide author; do not include these in the abstract body to allow for anonymized review. The authors’ order and details will be published as submitted.
3. Format preference: Indicate your choice of poster or oral presentation.
4. Thematic Area: Indicate the specific thematic area for the presentation.
6. Abstract: Ensure your abstract does not exceed 300 words. Please avoid diagrams, illustrations, tables, references or graphics in the abstract. Use the following abstract structure: Introduction, Method, Results, Conclusions.
6. Keywords: Please indicate up to 5 SDG keywords for your abstract.
IV. FURTHER DISCUSSIONS
All submissions will be evaluated through a blind review process. The scientific committee will decide if the abstract submitted is for oral presentation or poster presentation, although the authors can suggest it.
After the blind review process, the Scientific Committee will send the decision of acceptance or rejection to all authors by batches.
All accepted abstracts will be published in the “IAPESGW Congress Book of Abstracts” with ISBN.
Authors of accepted abstracts must indicate their intent to submit full papers for review and potential acceptance at a special issue on gender in the International Sports Studies (ISS) following the “Author Guidelines” in the submissions section of the Journal.
Each presenting author is permitted to submit no more than two (2) abstracts for the 2025 IAPESGW World Conference. If two (2) abstracts are submitted, the best abstract will receive first priority and the second one will be allocated depending on the availability of schedules or may be included as a poster presentation.
Once the abstract is accepted, the submitting author may register for the conference in order to participate as a presenter at the conference. Details of the conference will be announced soon.
The participants will receive a certificate of presentation.
